About Brooks Brothers

A brand known for numerous and significant innovations in fashion industry, Brooks Brothers is the oldest men’s clothier in the United States and is headquartered on Madison Avenue in Manhattan, New York City. It was founded in 1818 as a family business by Henry Sands Brooks. His guiding principle was, “To make and deal only in merchandise of the finest body, to sell it at a fair profit, and to deal with people who seek and appreciate such merchandise.” In 1833 his four sons inherited the family business and in 1850 renamed the company “Brooks Brothers”.

Brooks brothers was known for introducing the ready-to-wear suits to American customers. The company also supplied soldiers’ uniforms during the Civil War and outfitted 40 of the 45 American Presidents. A leading brand that left a precious legacy to fashion industry.

Brooks Brothers introduced many clothing novelties to the American market. As mentioned before, Brooks Brothers introduced the ready-to-wear suit in 1849, a new wrinkle that played a critical role in fashion in the global market. The American company also applied button-down collars to dress shirts in 1896, introduced English foulard ties in the 1890s, the pink dress shirt, Harris Tweed, light-weight summer suits (made of corduroy and seersucker), wash-and wear and non-iron cotton shirts and many more fundamental novelties.

Today, the company is owned by the Italian Claudio Del Vecchio and has expanded its activities in 70 other countries. Although most of Brooks Brothers’ clothing is imported, many of the firm’s garments are manufactured in the US. All Brooks Brothers’ necktie silk is woven in England or Italy and the ties are cut and piled in the Brooks Brothers’ tie factory in New York.

The Look

As a true nature lover, I deeply value field-based quality time. Therefore, I opted to take a long drive with my favorite car Volvo XC90 from Volvo Sfakianakis dressed in a bright and fresh outfit that utterly befitted my joyous and adventurous mood.

Green is the prime color of the world, therefore I opted for a neutral casual chic look to accompany my ride. I chose to wear a grey-green jacket that matched perfectly my light green sweater. I combined them with a plaid sport shirt and comfortable khaki chino pants. A gorgeous briefcase and a pair of bespoke tan shoes completed my relaxed and leisurely outfit.
