Herringbone. Iconic, timeless and classy – one of the most popular weave patterns.

Herringbone

A very popular pattern that originate from Rome. Its name comes from the criss-crossing chevrons that resemble a fish skeleton. Herringbone is an informal choice and as being quite versatile it can showcase any casual outfit.

The Herringbone jacket can me worn in lots of different colors as it constitutes a safe and versatile option. From monochromatic outfits to colorful picks, the herringbone jacket is definitely a bold and timeless statement. The only rule is to keep it casual.

The look

The exact pattern works great in the wild, so I picked this herringbone check sport jacket to accompany me to a ride in the nature with this gorgeous vintage 1979 BMW RS100 bike. Made of wool and cashmere, this jacket feels warm and comfortable. Extra feature: The brown elbow patches that give further plainness to my outfit.

Layering is a smart option when it comes to wearing a casual jacket, therefore I combined it with a 100% pure wool tan vest.  I finished off my smart casual outfit with burgundy casual trousers, a pair of brown lace up boots and a green woolen tie.
