Regardless of the pandemic – we have Christmas here, people!
For those of us we have style written in our DNA we don’t need any excuse for being stylish all day! Even when we stay at home for days or when we walk our dog, we seek an opportunity to express ourselves stylistically. To dress nicely all day, personally helps me keep myself agile and during this pandemic I strive to maintain the regularity of my everyday life.
Therefore, today I walked to Kolonaki to buy my all time favourite Christmas Panettone that I get every year from Alfiere Caffe and didn’t miss the chance to wear an epic English tweed coat combined with a 100% wool turtleneck sweater and a red vest made of pure cashmere, ideal combo for a festive walk downtown!
You know the enthusiasm I have in Bespoke Athens and I choose very often to get garments from that particular fashion house either casual or formal. Vasilis Bourtsalas’ mastery is an inspiration to me and in Bespoke Athens you may find the crème de la crème of menswear.
The Coat
A coat is definitely an investment piece and it should be warm, timeless, quality and versatile.
The single breasted three-button coat that I am wearing as I mentioned before is a truly epic bespoke piece made by Sciamat for Bespoke Athens. This coat is c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y unlined and unconstructed, which brings out the effortless line and amazing fit, while subserving the freedom of movement wearing this garment. It has beautiful and effortless movement and dynamism due to the belt in the back and the excess of fabric that creates appealing drapes and pleats.
In fact, it is a unique experience to own a Sciamat coat because of the way it is constructed – it is actually completely unconstructed – it’s just the fabric (no lining, no shoulder pads) possessing astonishing effortless drapes and an amazing design in the shoulders. On the other hand, I really get fascinated by Sciamat’s coats and jackets because they have such a strong character that can be classic and contemporary at the same time, bringing another dimension to the sometimes boring term ‘classic’.
The fabric of this particular coat is a very heavy vintage English tweed, that combines a herringbone and a donegal weave possessing cream and yellow small pieces of yarn on the overall dark brown woollen cloth.
The Look
A splash of color never hurt anyone.
For my festive walk downtown I combined a classic black woollen turtleneck sweater with grey-beige medium rise tailored pants with reversed pleats, made of English vintage worsted wool cloth that holds a beautiful and flattering shape. In order to add that little extra to my quiet in terms of color outfit, I chose to wear a rich deep red cashmere herringbone single-breasted vest with a beautiful triangular line.
